This plant is called "Syu-kaidoh" in Japanese. Probably, it is not common in Europe and the US, Canada too.
According to the WIKIPEDIA, This plant is native to the area covers from
Malay peninsula to Southern part of China, and it brought from China to Japan in the early
Edo period (1603 to 1868).
