Camellia bloomed in the severe cold

According to a newspaper, it was snowed even in the Taiwan and Guangzhou. Camellia has bloomed even in such a cold. I had to use high-speed shutter to shoot the camellia, because it was constantly shaking by cold and strong west wind.

function that called single color mode

The camera has a function that called single color mode. You can chose any one from colors like red, orange, yellow, green, blue and/or purple. The photo was taken with yellow in the single color mode.
Things like this I wonder, is it in the wrong way for the nature photography?

Flower arrangement with hanging scroll in Tokonoma

This is an image of typical Japanese taste.
A flower arrangement and Kakejiku (hanging scroll) are displayed in the alcove, which is called Tokonoma in Japanese, in a room of my home.
The scene like this is widely common in Japanese homes.
A picture of horses is drawn on the hanging scroll that is called ink wash painting or brush painting. Technique of ink wash painting was developed in China in the 7th century. I bought that hanging scroll at a souvenir shop in Gui-Lin (桂林) or Xia Men 厦門 more than a decade ago.

A camellia in flower arrangement

Some of camellia trees in my neighbourhood were broken down because of heavy weight of snow which has fallen last weekend. Based on the ready consent of a tree owner, I broke off some of the branches, which had some buds, from broken tree and brought them back to my home to make flower arrangement. The one of them has just bloomed so beautifully this morning.

Perfect doubled petals, Maiden of Camellia

I think that this is undistinguished or featureless image, just a closed-up photo of camellia.
However, I decided to share this photo with you, because of the perfect and unblemished doubled-petals which are elegant befitting a Maiden of Camellia.
It is a quite hard to find such a beautiful and shapely petals.

Enjoy the perfect petals on lightbox with full-screen.

Association to La Dame aux camélias (The Lady of Camellias)

In Japanese, the flower in photo above is called "Otome Tsubaki" that means "Maiden of Camellia".
When I see a "Maiden of Camellia", I immediately think about a novel titled La Dame aux camelias or The Lady of Camellias written by Alexandre Dumas fils.

The further association is one of my favorite operas La traviata composed by Giuseppe Verdi based on the novel La dame aux Camélias.
Because, this opera is performed remain in the original title of the novel in Japan.

Let's enjoy "brindisi", and let's toast for your happy Sunday, for Maiden of Camellia too!
