a cumulonimbus or a towering thundercloud

The image above was taken on August 30th, temperature was over 90℉.
The temperature was around 90℉ most days of August in the town where I live.
We had a extreme heat of summer. Is it an effect of global warming?

Flying little fairies in the forest

I call it a forest fairy. Because, the shape of this lovely flower looks like a fairy flying with outstretched her small wings. Don't you think so?

It is the plant indigenous to Japan, therefore, it doesn’t have English name.
In terms of the scientific classification, the plant is in the family of Ranunculaceae, and the binomial name is Anemonopsis macrophylla.
We call it "Renge-Shouma(蓮華升麻)" in Japanese.

Thank you for viewing in LARGE SIZE.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Sunflower;a memory of the cinema

I always remember one Italian film starring Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni whenever I see the sunflower. Film's title was "Sunflower". It was a bit sad story, but the scene of the huge sunflower field in Russian land was so impressed. I was moved to tears at the end of the story with sorrowful but beautiful theme music composed by Hemry Mancini.

A wooden causeway to the sky

The shape of the mountain is like a table, on the top of that mountain about six thousand feet above sea level, around seven hundred fifty thousand square feet (25ha) of wetland spreads out, further, the peat is deposited in that wetland. The wooden causeway or path paved with wood is provided to protect various kind of wet-plants like a bog-rosemary, Hare's-tail Cottongrass, and other small plants shown in here, therefore, hikers are requested to walk only on the causeway.
Thank you for looking in Black&Large.

For the next generation

For the next generation, originally uploaded by photoholic image.
A pair of butterfly, probably called Pale Grass Blue, was pairing on a green shiso leaf.
Two butterflies stood with their all legs braced against the breeze and kept same position mostly five minutes.
Thank you for viewing and wishing you a happy weekend.

Most wonderful memory of this summer

London 2012 Olympic is over. It was most wonderful memory of this summer.
I am so impressed with great activities of all players and wonderful opening and closing ceremony performance, especially, Hey Jude sung by Sir Paul McCartney at the end of Opening ceremony and John Lennon's Imagine sung by the children's choir at the closing ceremony.
My flickr had been put aside during the Olympics, but it will be restarted from this image.

What do you associate thistle with?

I associate thistle with Scotland. Because of that thistle is the floral emblem of Scotland. At the same time, I associate Scotland with the Isley [aɪlə] Malt. My most favorite Islay Malt is the Bowmore. Furthermore, I associate Islay malt with Charlie Muffin, who is the hero of an espionage novel or a spy fiction written by Brian Freemantle, also loves so much the Islay Malt.
